What is the SIT Program?

SITs and camperThe Staff In Training (SIT) program is designed for 16 year olds. As a SIT, youth can explore their interests and talents in the camp enviroment. There is room for six SITs in tent circles and one SIT each in the kitchen, at the waterfront, and the art shack. Tent circle SITs are assigned in pairs to a younger-aged tent circle, and from the first day of camp act in leadership roles with these campers. All SITs participate in daily leadership and counselor training sessions including learning how to lead group discussions, run group activities, understand the needs of campers at different ages and many other skills. SITs recieve a special scholarship equalling 50 percent of their camper fee. Interested teens need to apply for and be invited into this program.

SIT campers also participate in a Diversity and Leadership Training Program.

The SIT program prepares youth for the Junior Staff Program.
