Mountain Meadow's Summer Program is a residential camp for youth from lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and other non-traditional families. Mountain Meadow consists of a General Camp for youth ages 9-13, a Teen Camp for youth ages 14-15, a Staff-In-Training program for 16 year olds, and a Junior Staff program for 17 year olds.
Mountain Meadow creates a unique envioronment based on the values of cooperation and egalitarianism. Camp provides a community for campers and staff from diverse backgrounds that is both fun and educational. In addition to leading traditional camp activities, Mountain Meadow's staff helps campers to understand and deal with important social issues that affect their lives. All staff must be committed to the positive development of youth from LGBTQ families.
This
year’s camp session runs from Sunday, August 10th through Saturday,
August 23rd for campers. Staff
members (including Junior Staff) need to arrive at camp on August 6 th for
staff
orientation and stay through 8pm on Saturday, August 23rd for
camp clean up.
All camp staff serve as volunteers, but are provided with stipends of $500 to cover expenses. Mountain Meadow is accepting applications for the following positions: Unit Leaders, Counselor Positions, Floating Staff Positions, Camper Advocate, Administrative Assistant, Medical Director, Health Care Provider, Waterfront Director, Lifeguards, Art Director, Program Coordinator, Kitchen Director, Assistant Kitchen Director, and Kitchen Staff.
